Description
FERRIC OXIDE
Technical grade
Iron(III) oxide or ferric oxide is one of the three main oxides of iron. the other two being iron (II) oxide (FeO), and iron (II-III) oxide (Fe3O4). As the mineral known as hematite Fe2O3 is the main source of iron for the steel industry. Fe2O3 is paramagnetic, reddish-brown, and readily attacked by acids. Rust is often called iron(III) oxide.
Uses for Ferric Oxide / Red Iron Oxide:
In the iron and steel industry, it is used to make steel and alloys.
A pigment in ceramics to produce glazes.
Jewellers rouge or red rouge.
A fine polish for jewelry and lenses.
Pigments (pigment brown 6, pigment brown 7, and pigment red 101).
Used in the thermite reaction.
